Among many successful projects IGS has developed a system for Alameda County Congestion Management (ACCMA) (www.smartcorrdidors.com) that provides unique capabilities and functionality around congestion management using sophisticated data management technologies that integrates a variety of data sources including:
The system integrates with Caltrans' Traffic Management Center (TMC) and offers a many innovative features
that do not exist in other systems.
DATA COLLECTION
The IGC-Concentrator collects volume and speed data for the arterials and highways within its geographical
jurisdiction. This data will give operators and other users complete information on the status of traffic
congestion and traffic flow and serve as indicators as to the use of all the other devices and applications
in the system. Data will be collected in the form of numerical and visual information. Numerical information
is gathered through vehicle detection equipment; visual information is gathered through video from the
closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras. Each agency would retain full control and autonomy within its
jurisdiction.
INFORMATION DISSEMINATION PREDICTIVE ANALYSIS
Once the information is collected and processed, IGC-Analytic will disseminate the information to motorists
(i.e., autos, transit, commercial, pedestrians). The information is real-time and will be given to motorists
immediately through Changeable Message Signs (CMS), Highway Advisory Radio (HAR), and displayed on a map
enabled Internet web site. Other non-critical traffic information can also be stored in the database and
displayed on the website.
